About Us
Education is the key to long-term successful relationships between pets and owners. There would be fewer animals in shelters if more pet owners were truly prepared and chose a pet that was the best fit for them and their families. To help prospective pet owners make that best choice, Adopted Pets gathers information from animal professionals, such as veterinary universities, non-profit organizations, veterinarians, and news services, regarding the choice, care, feeding and training of pets, and general pet adoption issues.
This site was created by Karen Kelly, webmaster and dog owner (only adopted dogs, of course!); in consult with Amy Hribar, UCD Graduate Student and Teaching Assistant in Animal Behavior Studies, Bird Behavior Researcher, owner and trainer of many adopted birds.
